With a history of live and studio engineering for the likes of Fila Brazilia, Arctic Monkeys and Gomez, the Little Gem's influences are diverse to say the least. After the disappointment of having to cancel his Australian support slot with the Arctic Monkeys due to a broken arm, this will the first LG gig of the year. Expect a range of textured laptop soundscapes, guitar explorations, and vocal melodies.

Little gem - Australia cancellation
LG was due to support the Arctic Monkeys in Australia this month, showcasing tracks off his next release, due later in the year. Unfortunately, John Ashton (aka Little Gem) broke his elbow, and is out of action for a few weeks.
Hope it's better soon John. All messages of sympathy (ironic or otherwise) should be directed to http://myspace.com/collecteddust

Lisbon cancellation
Due to a major injury caused to one of Little Gem's most important appendages, the show in Lisbon on 18th of May had to be cancelled. The Arctic Monkeys are still playing of course. Stay tuned for further gig updates once he has healed.21/12/2005
update...
breaking news. the album has been spotted in hmv in the Trafford
Centre. this means that no one has the reason "not knowing a reputable
independent record shop" as an excuse for not buying Collected Dust.
it's in the big daddy shops now, be-yotch! you can fit it in between
trips to habitat and next.
oh, and it's in the dance section. in it's own little bit with a tag
and everything.
so don't get all up in my grill saying you can't find it. it's your
ears' birthday and big uncle john's just given you directions to the
party!
mm hmm. why have i gone all street?
could it be that the live side of tha gem (as they're known on the mean streets of fishersgate) is taking form, born on the wings of some fruity beats and a boingy bass sound, kittensoft and B-lo been holding it down in a borrowed pet shop for the last couple of days. give us a few years and it might even sound mediocre. hoping to have more info and some dates soon!
not that you care because you're already in hmv, aintcha, dawg?
word. i'm off to meet kanye......

apologies to the cd baby posse. the jet lagged brain tends to forget all about the efforts made by certain marvellous people around the planet when trying to maximise profit, along with all the very sensible reasons for setting up the service, a grovelling apology to the zucchini.
anyone in Europe buy it from GC recordings. those living in a super power, buy it from CD baby. those elsewhere, i'm not so sure. but please, don't hesitate to purchase one way or another.
according to our non-mac-using spy in the new world, this show opens with "Santa Cruz...". get in! word continues to spread like a new born foal taking it's first goofy steps.
arigato (or however you spell it)

more news. it's raining in new york. the cd is available now online at CD baby in the states, though why people don't buy it direct from this website is beyond me. preparations are also now underway for a live show or two. no other real news. god i'm bored. but utterly superb at my day job. john

hello world. hello from Paris, France in fact. where things are more than a little odd.
in Little Gem world meanwhile, things are rosy. the album is out and about and should be in good independent shops. it's now also available in tower records in the US AND Santa Cruz is miles mate got played on XFm the other day!
p.s. have you seen the photographs yet?

confusion reigns supreme, is the album out? apparently it's available on amazon!
the product exists, the wonderful czech republican types finally came through. a shadowy large conked svengali plants it in greasy palms as we speak. will it work, will anyone give a shit? will these years of cunting around prove as futile as ever?
all we can say is,
Little Gem - Collected Dust.
Out there!
